Company History
In 1978, James Chen was determined to leave the corporate world (in the shoe industry) and start his own entrepreneurial venture in the fastener world. The opportunity came when Bill Farrell of Bear Cut* visited Taiwan to look for a trustworthy partner whom he could train to become a reliable supplier. Bill conducted hundreds of interviews at the Grand Hotel in Taipei, and out of all the applicants, he chose James.
Over the years, many of our customers have asked where the name JC Grand came from. "JC" stands for James Chen, and "Grand" stands for two things: 1) a grand vision for the company, and 2) the Grand Hotel, since that was where the interview with Bill Farrell took place.
Since 1978, JC Grand has grown from a two-people company based out of James Chen's living room to a multi-region operation with customers all over the world. The one thing that has not changed over the past 30+ years is our dedication to our customers. We will always remain committed to help your business grow by providing great quality fasteners and high value-added services.
